Adventure 233 ~ Try A New WordPress Widget

I was so excited about my “technological victory” yesterday, that I just couldn’t help myself today 😛 . As I was pretty certain that it would be impossible to put any kind of sign up box in the right-hand side bar of my website, I thought I’d g adventuring and see what I could manage.

And… if you tilt your eyes up to the right, you’ll see that I managed it! I really enjoyed myself working out how to do it (I feel rather pleased with myself, I must admit 🙂 ).

If you’re a WordPress.com blog/website owner, and this is something you’l like to do for your own site, then this is how you do it :

1. Go to Dashboard

2. Go to Appearance

3. Go to Widgets

4. Select and drag “Image” to the side bar

5. Make sure you already have the image you want to put into the side-bar loaded into your Media Gallery.

6. Paste the URL of your image into the appropriate box (you can get the URL if you go to your Gallery, and then click on the image ; scroll down the right hand side, and you’ll see the URL).

7. Paste the target URL (where you want people to end up when they’ve clicked on the image) into the appropriate box.

That’s all there is to it!

Adventure 231 ~ Embrace Failure

J K Rowling quoteToday I received my first reply from a literary agent about my children’s story, The Faerie Thorn. It was a standard email – and it wasn’t a “yes”.

In today’s video, I explore my reaction to the email : it’s probably worth watching if  you think fear of failure may be holding you back (or if you’re worried about what others may think if you don’t succeed).

The “take-away” from today’s adventure is : “failure” isn’t all it’s cracked up to be 😛 (and if you’ve got things that you really want to do, go right ahead and do them!) .. oh … and whatever you do…  hold your nerve!

Adventure 203 ~ Survive Six Hours Of Grammar

Gosh. Editing is a tougher than I thought 😛 . Today’s adventure has been all about editing my book and this round of editing has been completely grammar-focused. I am actually surprised that I got out alive. Grammar and bone-ghosts seem to have a lot in common 😛 .

The editing is still not complete and I’m heading into my fourth and (fingers crossed) final cycle tomorrow. What makes me giggle (well, okay , I’ll admit it. I’m too grammar-garotted to giggle just now) is that the Faerie Thorn story actually took me fourteen hours to write. Guess how long the editing has taken?……….

Adventure 188 ~ Learn More About Connecting To The World Around Me [And Within Me]

leslieWell, I have to say that my faerie and tree adventures have worn me out .. and piqued my curiosity!

For today’s adventure, I get to talk to two experts who offer insights and tips for taking my adventures further.

First of all I talked to Leslie Marsh. Leslie is a shamanic bard and practitioner who is steeped in folkloric traditions and is used to connecting with the fae.

jackie StewartThen I spoke with Jackie Stewart, a Soul Alchemist who helps people to connect with nature.

I have posted both live-streamed interviews below. Jackie mentions a book in our chat, ‘ The Secret Teachings of Plants’ by Stephen Harrod Buhner. You can find this book here .

More About Faeries ~ Leslie tells us about what faeries are, how to connect with faerie energy and explains how we might benefit from opening up to this energy.

More About Connecting With Nature ~ Jackie explains some of the key benefits of being connected to nature, she offers tips about how to make the connection and describes how we can learn to feel the “pull” of certain plants and trees.

Adventure 186 ~ Feel The Energy Of A Tree

TEvening ash on the farmoday I try my hand at connecting with, and feeling the energy of, a tree. I use everything I’ve learned from my animal communication course (Asia Voight suggests that her method of communication can be used to communicate with any living thing) and I also try an Aboriginal ‘deep listening’ practice called Dadirri  in an attempt to connect with the tree.

The ash trees on the farm have been drawing my attention for some time now. So I found a “partner” ash in a quiet away-from-it-all corner and spent some time with it.

You can see how I got on in today’s video. You can get the full low down on ash trees here (it’s really interesting to read about the folklore of trees!)

Adventure 185 ~ Learn How To Communicate With My Dog [5]

mindblogIf you’ve been following my adventures for a while, you’ll probably have worked out that I’m an “in for a penny, in for a pound” kinda gal 🙂 . As today is the final day of my animal communication adventure, I decided to really go for it : today I attempt to communicate with a dog that is no longer alive!

I put everything I learned from Asia Voight into practice and something very strange happened! [An update is posted below today’s video!]

Update ~ My friend Leslie, a former veterinary nurse, watched my video and listened to the description of the dog. She suggested that the big dog was a Beauceron. The image fits perfectly (I have never seen one of these dogs before today! … It’s getting spookier and spookier around here!).
